Tour Description
Witness the pure magic of an Uluru sunrise followed by either a base tour of this majestic site and a visit to the amazing Uluru - Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre OR an exhilarating Uluru climb. This tour is perfect for those who like to keep their options open!
• Be captivated by the stunning Uluru sunrise – an awe-inspiring experience that you’ll never forget!
• See Uluru from all angles on a Base Tour, learning about the history and geology of this iconic landmark
• Touch the rock that has been revered for thousands of years as you enjoy the Mutitjulu Walk
• Climb this mighty monolith and see the landscape from a bird’s eye point of view (optional)
• Learn about the Unungu at the Uluru – Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre
After an early morning rise, you’ll be escorted in a comfortable tourist vehicle from Ayers Rock Resort about 90 minutes prior to sunrise. You’ll arrive at Uluru’s sunrise lookout point – called Talinguru Nyakunytjaku – in darkness and share biscuits, tea or coffee with your fellow travellers as you wait for the sun to rise above the sweeping horizon. First, the blanket of darkness will lighten to a cool blue-grey hue, and the birds will let you know they are watching the sunrise right along with you. Then, your jaw will drop as the first golden rays show their splendour – erupting with warmth and light over the top of the stately form of Uluru.
As the landscape is bathed in the sun’s full embrace, you will have the chance to take photographs before heading over to the base of Uluru. Here, you can either choose the Uluru Base Tour and Uluru – Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre experience, or split off to experience the Uluru Climb.
Uluru Base Tour
Here, your friendly and knowledgeable driver guide will regale you with the stories about this amazing rock –its geology and history – as you are driven around the base. You’ll then have the chance to stretch your legs on the Mutitjulu Walk – an interpretive base walk incorporating the stunning Mutitjulu Waterhole, Indigenous rock paintings and more fascinating information about this spiritual area and the people who have roamed these parts for thousands of years.
Uluru - Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre
At the Uluru - Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre, you will walk through the amazing collection of art works, ceramics, cultural relics and woodwork (punu) that represent the creative efforts of the traditional Anangu people. You can even take home your own unique punu – a token of the Anangu.
Uluru Climb
If you choose the Uluru Climb, you will unfortunately not be able to join the rest of the tour for the Uluru Base Tour, Mutitjulu Walk or visit to Uluru - Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre. You will be dropped off and picked up at a designated site before and after your climb. This is a fairly intense and physically demanding climb that takes around two hours, but if you do choose the climb – you will not regret it. The views are outstanding! Having said that, Uluru is a sacred site and the Anangu have stated that they prefer people do not climb. The choice is entirely yours though.
NOTE: $25 National Park entry fee not included. Uluru Climb may be closed with no notice due to weather or other reasons. Unfortunately, no refunds can be issued if this occurs.
